Live Oak Stud is proud to present...
SPECTACULAR BID
BOLD BIDDER X SPECTACULAR (PROMISED LAND)
WON; Champagne Stakes
WON; Laurel Futurity
WON; Hutcheson Stakes
WON; Florida Derby
WON; Kentucky Derby
WON; Preakness Stakes
WON; Strub Series
WON; Santa Anita Handicap
"The Bid" was "spectacular" from the moment he entered a starting gate. "The greatest horse to ever look through a bridle," was how trainer Grover G. "Buddy" Delp frequently described his horse. Coming on the heels of a decade which saw such champions as Secretariat, Seattle Slew, and Affirmed, it was a bold and controversial statement. In all, Spectacular Bid won 13 Grade I stakes at ten different tracks, and won ten other stakes. He was assigned one hundred and thirty or more pounds on five occasions and won all five. He set or equaled eight Track and American records at seven different tracks, at distances from five 1/2 furlongs to 1 1/4 miles. He twice set Track records while carrying one hundred and thirty pounds. In all, Spectacular Bid's actions spoke louder than his trainer's words.
As a sire he has produced proven horses such as Fantasy's Silverlining and Bid Me Up, along with the up and coming Bid Thee Farewell. "The Bid" has never not been on the Leading Sires list. Not only are his foals guaranteed to inherit his wicked speed, but his amazing versatility and genuine love for the sport. It doesn't matter what you're looking for in a stud. Spectacular Bid is the only answer.
